John (Jack) M. Dunn, 88
John (Jack) M. Dunn, 88, passed away in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. A private family service will be held at a to be determined date.
He was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Cabinet, Idaho, to Maxwell and Lillian Dunn. Jack graduated from Hope High School in 1938. After high school he attended the University of Idaho with a course major of metallurgical engineering. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft Corp in California prior to World War II.
Jack joined the U.S. Navy spending most of the time in the South Pacific on the Island of Guam. After his discharge he returned to the family dairy farm business, operating a Grade A dairy until 1968 when he sold his dairy herd. Now semi-retired, he raised beef cattle for a number of years.
Jack married Irene E. (Coulthard) Bennett June 17, 1962. He attended the United Methodist Church in Clark Fork, Idaho, and was a member of VFW Post 2453. Jack enjoyed woodworking, gardening and continued maintaining the family farm.
He is survived by a brother Robert E. Dunn of Prescott, Ariz.; a nephew, Steven M. Dunn of Orting, Wash.; a niece: Sandra LaDow Quam of Vashon, Wash.; a son, Philip and (Robin) Bennett of Kent, Wash.; three granddaughters, Riann and (Scott) Haman of Buckley, Wash., Amy and (Samson) Manson of Graham, Wash., Lindsay and (Tony) Airington of Orting; seven great-grandchildren, Kade, Wyatt, Archer, Lucas, Gillian, Kennedy, and Blythe, in addition to many other relatives via marriage.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene; and sister, Maxine.
