Rose's Exotic Birds and Supplies opens in Sandpoint

| June 26, 2008 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — A pirate is not complete without a parrot and an eye patch, and while Rose’s Exotic Birds and Supplies does not carry eye patches, it does stock enough parrots to impress even the scurviest bunch of buccaneers.

Rose’s Exotic Birds and Supplies grew organically from the minds of Rose and Mike Pincenti, who purchased their first parrot about a year ago and immediately fell in love with the talkative birds. After purchasing five more throughout the year, the Pincentis thought the next obvious step was to open their own shop.

In addition to the parrots, Rose’s sells high-quality food, cages, play stands and toys. The Pincentis, including their extended family, have an obvious love of parrots, and they believe they are not alone in Sandpoint. In fact, they’re banking on the idea that bird lovers will come out of the woodwork when they learn that there is a new, quality store in the area.

Before Rose’s opened, parrot owners were forced to drive to Spokane to buy quality supplies, according to the Pincentis. With gas prices spiking, the Pincentis are confident that Rose’s couldn’t have opened at a better time.

Located at 521 Church St., Rose’s weekday hours (excluding Tuesday) are 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday hours are 12-5 p.m.
