Henry Allen Roys, 74

Henry Allen Roys, 74, of Kootenai, Idaho, died Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at Bonner General Hospital.

He was born April 23, 1934, in Volga, Iowa, the son of Jessie and Florence Roys.

He was raised and educated in Iowa. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Korean War, during which he was a prisoner of war.

Upon his discharge he attended technical school studying to be an electrical technician.

In 1968, he married Sharon Louise Sherrard in Spokane, Wash.

He worked in California for a time and later moved to Spokane, where he worked as a signal inspector with the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement in 1996.

Henry enjoyed shooting trap, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Kootenai; son, Robert (Marie) Steed of Riverside, Calif.; stepson: Mark Edwards; two grandchildren, Marlene and Amy; two great-grandchildren, Peter and Paul; a sister-in-law, Louise Geist of Spokane; six siblings, Les (Mary) Roys of Oregon, Wis., Tom (Deon) Roys of West Union, Iowa, Kathy (Mac) Duff of Fayette, Iowa, Lois (Ted) Golden of Summer, Iowa, Shirley (Keith) Young of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Mary (Dennis) DeGroote of Shell Rock, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
