Plows need to start closer to the curb

| March 1, 2008 8:00 PM

On another subject dear to our hearts is snow plowing. If the snow plows would start clearing closer to the curbs at the onset of snow plowing, we wouldn't have quite so narrow streets. On our street, the plow each year has kept at leas two feet between the blade and the curb. Why?

Also the plower lifts his driveway device too soon and leaves icy snow in front of the mail boxes, causing homeowners to shovel snow away so the mail carriers can drive up and deliver the mail. After about the second time of shoveling the snow and ice, the build-up is too heavy to shovel and we end up having to go to our very small and user-unfriendly post office to retrieve our mail. The convenience of snow plowing suddenly becomes an awful inconvenience, especially for the senior community.
