Host Diamond Meet on Saturday

Funtastics not only hosted a great show at the Great West Gym Fest, their gymnasts put on a great show recently in Coeur d'Alene. Teams from Colorado, Utah, Montana, Washington, Nevada, California, Oregon, Alaska and Idaho came to compete in this huge event. Team Funtastics came out and showed that they are made of the right stuff.

The Level 4 Team girls won with a team score of 103.32. Contributing to this score, from the Funtastics North gym, were Megan Morris, Darby Pierce, Hannah Oskoui and Madison Sleyster in the senior division. Abby Kassa competed in the junior division and Sharon Rowe competed in the child division.

Megan Morris brought home four gold medals, winning the gold medal in the all-around with a score of 35.60. She earned 1st place on vault scoring 9.35, 1st place on beam scoring 9.05, 1st place on floor with an 8.90, and 5th place on bars with an 8.30. Darby Pierce placed 3rd in the all-around with a score of 34.75. Darby placed 3rd on vault with a 9.0, 5th on bars with an 8.25, 3rd on beam with an 8.9, and 5th on floor with an 8.6. Hannah Oskoui competing in her first meet of the season placed 1st on vault with a 9.3, 6th on bars with an 8.2, 6th on beam with a 7.8, and 8th on floor with a 7.9. Hannah placed 7th in the all-around with a 33.20. Madison Sleyster showed her stuff on the beam, placing 2nd with a score of 9.0. Madi placed 4th on vault with an 8.85, 7th on floor with an 8.0 and 8th on bars with a 7.1. Madison placed 8th in the all-around with a 32.95. Abby Kassa rocked at GWGF placing 1st on vault with a 9.1, 3rd on bars with an 8.4, 3rd on beam with an 8.05 and 6th on floor with an 8.25. Abby's performance put her in 2nd place in the all-around with a score of 33.80. Sharon Rowe took home the gold in vault with a score of 9.15. Sharon placed 2nd in bars with an 8.7, 4th on beam with an 8.3, and 4th on floor with an 8.45. Sharon took 3rd in the all-around with a score of 34.60.

The Level 5 Team girls also earned the top spot on the awards stand with a team score of 108.32. Contributing to this effort from the Funtastics North gym were Kaylee Kiebert and Elizabeth Nieman in the senior division and Bailie Corless in the junior division.

Kaylee Kiebert placed 1st in vault with a 9.05, 2nd on bars with a 9.20, 6th on beam with an 8.4, and 5th on floor with an 8.15. Kaylee's all-around score of 34.80 placed her 3rd in the all-around. Elizabeth Nieman placed 6th on vault with an 8.1, 5th on bars with an 8.8, 2nd on beam with an 8.7, and 7th on floor with a 7.4. Her all-around score of 33.0 put her in 6th place. In the junior division Bailie Corless had a solid performance with 3rd place finishes in vault, bars and beam. She scored an 8.2 on vaul, an 8.85 on bars, and an 8.25 on beam. Bailie placed 6th on floor with a 7.35. Her all-around score of 32.625 put her in 5th place.

Funtastics North in Sandpoint will be hosting the Diamond Meet, a Rec Opt gymnastic competition for Level 3 gymnasts, on Saturday, beginning at noon. This meet will feature gymnasts from Funtastics in Coeur d'Alene and around the region. At 4 p.m., the pre-team and developmental girls will be competing. Prior to the Diamond Meet, starting at 9 a.m., our Sandpoint Level 1, 2, and 3 gymnasts will be showing off their skills for friends and family during our Diamond Performance show. All events are free and open to the public.

Team Funtastics will compete in the March Madness Meet in Spokane, March 14-15, then they will travel to Boise for the state finals March 28-29, wrapping up the season.
