Robert Duncan 'Bob' McCabe, 79
Robert Duncan “Bob” McCabe, 79, passed away in Spokane, Wash., on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Aaron Thorp will be officiating.
Robert was born in Luce County, Mich., on March 28, 1928, the son of Robert and Margaret McCabe. The family moved to the Morton area in 1931 and he went through the eighth grade at the Dawson School.
He served with the U.S. Army, in Korea, from 1946 until 1949.
On May 22, 1949 he married Nellie Sawhill in Sagle, Idaho, and she preceded him in death. He worked for Larry Donnerberg, at the Arrow Tie Mill in Kootenai.
He was an equipment operator for Bonner County, District 1 from 1970 until 1992 when he retired.
In retirement, he farmed and logged in the Sagle area. On Nov. 20, 1983, he married Thelma Greenwood in Reno, Nev.
Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting logs.
He is survived by his wife Thelma McCabe; children Bob McCabe Jr.; Nita (and Pat) Garvey, Steve Greenwood, Paul (and Sue) Greenwood all of Sagle, Idaho; grandchildren Marie Garvey (and Rob Crowley), Mike (and Trisha) McCabe, Jessica (and John) Friend, Danielle (and Dan) Russo, Lisa (and Tim) Laude, John Greenwood and Darline Greenwood; and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother Donald McCabe of Chipley, Fla.; and three sisters, Gail Austin and Arlene Turnbull both of Priest Lake, Idaho; and Janice Leder of Bouse, Ariz.
His parents, three brothers, and two sisters also preceded him in death.
