Bud Moon will be missed

| March 8, 2008 8:00 PM

We've known the Moon family for many years. They are the quintessential “Father Knows Best Family.” Bud and Susan have always been community spirited; Bud was the mayor of East Hope until his death. He was one of the people directly responsible for the Hope EMT (ambulance), it was his friends at the Hope EMT that took him to the hospital for the last time.

If you approached Bud and asked “Hi, how are you today,” his famous retort was always, “Better than I deserve.”

He cared deeply for people; anyone that knew him thought they were his “best friend.” He cared deeply for all his friends.

We are privileged to belong to the Antique and Classic Boat Club and watched Bud lovingly take care of a variety of boats and model boats. He gave his time and money to the ACBS. He was inventive throughout his life; anyone who knew him knows just what I'm talking about.

One story I remember fondly; he went to school with Pat McManus, I asked him if they were close; he said, “Well, I gave him a black eye once! He is referenced in one of Pat McManus's first books. Pat referenced Bud in his book as “fatty moon.” There are a lot of stories like that.

He and his family were true Idaho pioneers. Bud will be missed by all of us.

Thanks for the memories, Bud.
