Velma Pauline Osborn, 89

Velma Pauline Osborn, 89, passed away in Spokane, Wash., on Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Coffelt's Funeral Chapel. Bishop Ed Dittmar will officiate.

Velma was born in Caddoa, Colo., on Oct. 16, 1918, the daughter of James and Martha Vernon. In 1929 the family moved to the Morton area and she graduated from the Morton School eighth grade.

She married Wesley Osburn in Spokane, Wash., on Oct. 23, 1936. They made their home in Sandpoint, living on Cedar Street and Oak Street. They later moved to North Boyer where she lived for many years.

She enjoyed taking care of, and riding, her horses. She was a member of the Sandpoint Saddle Club and the Bonner County Historical Society.

She enjoyed the history of the area and helped write historical books. Her hobbies were genealogy, gardening, hunting and fishing.

Velma is survived by two children, Lloyd A (and Nancy) Osburn of Renton, Wash., and Veldonna E. (and Paul) Armstrong of Post Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wes; and two brothers, Melvin and Calvin.
