Glenn Ernest Johnson, 88

Glenn Ernest Johnson, 88, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Life Care Center.

He was born May 29, 1919 in Stacy, Minn., the son of John Ernest and Olive Campbell Johnson. He attended schools in Cameron, Wis., and joined the National Guard in Richmond, Calif. He married Evelyn Marie Nissen Pearce on Feb. 10, 1950, and she preceded him in death.

Throughout his life he worked as a carpenter in commercial construction in California prior to retiring in 1975. He moved to Sandpoint in May 2005 to be near his daughter. Glenn enjoyed carpentry and woodworking and was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Mr. Johnson is survived by seven children, Jay Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., Virginia Mae Pearce Lockhart and Darrell A. Pearce, both of Gresham, Ore., Velda I. (Pearce) Yamashita of Sandpoint, Glenda M. Watters of Sandy Valley, Nev., Joanne L. Teel of Grants Pass, Ore., and Cathy A. Stanton of Dilworth, Minn.; 22 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; a brother, Neal Johnson of Misouri; a sister, Ethelyne Cline of San Jose, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by four brothers.

Private memorial services will be held at a later time.
