Joni Christine (Baker) Zantow, 35

Joni Christine (Baker) Zantow, 35, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2008, in a car accident near Cocolalla, Idaho.

Viewing for friends and family will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2008, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. am, Monday, March 24, 2008, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tony Nelson of the First Christian Church officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Pack River Cemetery.

Joni was born on Jan. 25, 1973, to Bill and Sue Baker in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She attended grade schools in Bonners Ferry before moving to Sandpoint, where she attended middle school and high school, graduating from Sandpoint High School in the class of 1991. She married Perry Zantow in Dover, Idaho, on Aug. 1, 1992; the couple had two beautiful children together.

Joni worked at Safeway, and Women's Health Clinic while she earned her degree in medical secretarial studies at North Idaho College.

She was a hard worker, currently holding jobs at Bonner General Hospital, Sandpoint Pediatrics, and Kootenai Medical Center.

Joni was a loving mother, she enjoyed interior decorating, needlework, which she learned from her mother-in-law Juanita Zantow, singing, (she sang lead in “Cabaret” in the seventh grade), and her favorite color was purple.

She is survived by her life partner, Perry Zantow of Sandpoint; children, Madison, 7, and Mitchell, 5; stepchildren, Wesley, Benjamin and Kaila; her parents, Sue Baker of Kootenai, Idaho, and Bill Baker of Bonners Ferry; her sister, Mindy Baker and her son, Justin, of Sandpoint; her grandmothers, Arminda Thompson of Sandpoint and Gertrude Baker of Bonners Ferry; her aunts, Aggie (Al) Moran of Bonners Ferry, Janie (Bill) Jacobson of Kootenai, and Linda Baker of Bonners Ferry; her uncles, Jim (Lila) Thompson of Bonners Ferry and Walt (Carol) Thompson of Dayton, Nev.; extended family, Margie McDowell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Wyman Thompson and Sanford Baker; and a sister, Keri Sue Baker.

Memorial donations may be made to Mountain West Bank or Panhandle State Bank for Joni's children, Madison and Mitchell Zantow.
