CLARK FORK - With no home course this year to practice on and weather wreaking havoc on any notion of outdoor golf, the Clark Fork golf teams are eager to get the season started and see if they can't get a couple players to state.

Leading the girls team is senior Megan Hess, a four year varsity golfer, who hopes to go out in style her last year by landing her first berth in the state tournament.

“She has been improving each year and should have an excellent chance at state,” said Cats coach K.C. MacDonald. “It has been tough just hitting in the cages. The girls are looking forward to getting outside.”

Lauren McGinnis and Brenda Davisson also return with varsity experience to give the Cats three solid players. Patricia Little, Stacey Blankenship, Kalee Sears and Jessica Cope will battle for the final two varsity spots.

Seniors Drew Wilkinson and Brian Baugh, and junior Stetson McElhaney return with varsity experience to lead the boys team. MacDonald expects Wilkinson and Baugh to lead a group of three new players. David Meadows, Steven Thibault and David “Happy” Thibault are referred to as “the new crew” by MacDonald.

“Very good group of guys,” said MacDonald of the boys team. “They are willing to learn and are anxious to see what they can do on the course.”
