Woman killed in U.S. 2 crash
MOYIE SPRINGS — One person was killed and two others were injured in a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 2 near the Montana state line on Wednesday.
Idaho State Police said Tina Lynn Carson, a 38-year-old from Bonners Ferry, was killed in the crash. Carson was a passenger in a 1995 Saturn being driven by Michael James Degroff, 28, of Rathdrum.
Degroff and a second passenger, 31-year-old Patrick R. John of Bonners Ferry, were injured in the crash. Degroff and John were both transported to Boundary Community Hospital, but Degroff was later airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. He was listed in critical condition on Thursday, ISP said in a news release.
John suffered a broken clavicle and remained at Boundary Community for observation, according to ISP.
State police said Degroff was eastbound on the highway and was in the process of negotiating a sweeping right curve when he lost control. The vehicle crossed the center line and rolled, ejecting all three occupants.
Degroff was not wearing a seat belt, the ISP release said. The release did not specify if the other two occupants were wearing restraints.
The crash remained under investigation on Thursday and authorities had not determined whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash, state police said.
The crash happened happened at about 5:45 p.m. near Curley Creek, which is about a mile from the state line.
