HAYDEN LAKE - Playing their second match in two days, the weary Sandpoint Bulldog boys struggled to a last-place finish at the 13-team Kraus Invitational on Friday at the Avondale Golf and Tennis Club.

Colton Story shot an 89 to lead the Bulldogs, who carded a 386. Dan Sommerfield shot 91, Eli Brent 99 and Chris Rhyne 104 for Sandpoint.

“We were really, really tired. The guys looked exhausted,” said Sandpoint coach Mike Keough, whose team, because of the weather, has not played a practice round this season.

“Yesterday (at Prairie Falls) we played really, really well, and today on a very difficult course … I just got the feeling they were worn out.”

Coeur d'Alene shot a 298 and won the tourney by 18 strokes. Chris Williams of Moscow sank a 35-footer on the second playoff hole to beat Kyler Gable of Coeur d'Alene for medalist honors.

Sandpoint returns to action Monday at the Lake City Invitational at the Coeur d'Alene Public golf course. The 4A Region 1 tournament is Wednesday at StoneRidge.
