Janice Harriet Lewis, 78, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Wednesday, May 14, 2008.

The vigil/rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Memorial Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 30, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Father Dennis C. Day will be the officiant.

Janice was born on Jan. 12, 1930, in Glendale, Calif. She graduated from Jordan High School in Long Beach, Calif., in 1947.

She lived in Long Beach and married Jack D. Anderson and they had three children with the marriage ending in divorce.She continued living in Southern California working in banks, restaurants, and for a commercial printing shop.

In April 1996 she moved to Sandpoint and was active as a senior companion.

She enjoyed playing bunco and was known as a “bunco babe.” She was active in the Oden Busy Bees and the Sandpoint Senior Citizens Center.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society.

She is survived by daughter Christine (William) Vest, and their children William (Shawna) Vest of Denver, Colo.; Scott, Joshua, Sarah and Ethan Vest, all of Sandpoint; daughter Lori (Alan) Young and their daughter Katelyn of Sandpoint; and son Michael (Sheila) Anderson and their children Gabriel, Ian, David, Rachel, and Hannah Anderson, all of Gunnison, Colo. A niece Pam (Dan) Cacek of Wildemar, Calif., also survives her. Her parents and a sister Barbara preceded her in death.

She was a wonderful mom, grammy, aunt, and friend and will always be remembered for her wonderful smile and sense of humor.
