Elect to make a difference: Vote
I'll keep it short this election.
In fact, my whole message could be summed up in one word: Vote.
If you're registered, vote. If you are not registered, then take a picture ID and something that shows your physical address - a bill, a rental agreement, something that shows the street address. If you're worried about it being a hassle, don't. The folks at the polling stations are very friendly and go out of their way to make it as easy and painless as possible.
As I waited in line at the courthouse Monday to vote absentee, I thought back on that and thought about how wonderful it was to see a dozen people ahead of me also waiting to vote. In short order, another half-dozen people filed in behind me.
A few folks complained good-naturedly that they had decided to vote absentee to avoid the lines, only to find themselves in the position they'd hoped to avoid.
But, we all agreed, it wasn't a bad position to find ourselves in - we'd rather wait a few minutes and see a huge turnout than to be the only one there and apathy reign.
