Rosholt making national television debut in cagefigting

| November 3, 2008 8:00 PM

Former Sandpoint High School and Oklahoma State wrestling legend Jake Rosholt will take his 4-0 record into the cage on Wednesday night in a televised Mixed Martial Arts fight. The former three-time Idaho state champion and three-time NCAA national champion will enter the cage against undefeated Nissen Osterneck.

Rosholt, who fights for Team Takedown, was targeted by Sports Illustrated as the top up and coming fighter in Mixed Martial Arts. The former Sandpoint Bulldog attracted the attention of UFC president Dana White. In an interview featured in ESPN the Magazine, White referred to Rosholt as "the real deal." All four of Rosholt's fights to date have ended either by way of tap out or TKO.

Like Rosholt, Osterneck brings an impressive résumé to the cage. The Hawaiian native posted a 64-4 record as a Jiu Jitsu fighter, including submitting 13 opponents in one day to win the 2006 national title.

The nationally televised World Extreme Cagefighting card is slated to begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday on the Versus channel (Direct TV channel 603/Dish Network channel 151).
