SHS girls win district swim title

MOSCOW - The Sandpoint girls won the district swimming championship, and the boys team finished second out of six teams Saturday at the University of Idaho pool in Moscow.

Paulina Gralow won the 100 breaststroke, coming in under the state record in the event she has dominated at state for the past three years, and also won the 200 individual medley to lead the girls. Keeley Pearlstein got second in the 100 backstroke, and Hillari Contor second in the 100 fly and 100 breast to help lead the reigning state runner-up girls team. Contor took nearly three seconds off of her personal best in the 100 fly, a strong sign as state approaches this weekend.

Other top-five finished from the Bulldog girls included Sam Trulock (3rd in 200 free, 4th in 500 free), Erin Stanley (3rd in 200 IM, 4th in 100 back), Tina Wilson (4th in 100 free) and Michelle Rockwell (5th in 500 free).

Graham Cole won the 50 free, dropping .65 seconds off of his personal best, and finished third in the 100 fly to help lead the boys team. Captain Colton Story finished second in the 100 free and the 100 backstroke, dropping more than a second off his personal best in each. Freshman Chris Mann finished second in the 200 free and third in the 500 free.

Other top-five finishes included Barry Wilson (5th in 200 free), Garrett Dunn (3rd in 200 IM, 4th in 100 back), Casey Dunn (4th in 200 IM) and Zak Roundy (4th in 100 fly, 5th in 500 free).

"State will be an exciting meet for both teams," said head coach Mike Brosnahan. "The girls are undefeated and the boys second in both invitationals."
