Fern Jeppesen Mikesell, 88

Fern Jeppesen Mikesell, 88, passed away on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 in Sandpoint, Idaho.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Sandpoint Ward.

Family graveside services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the Pack River Cemetery.

Fern was the third child of Frederick H. and La Vira (Spackman) Jeppesen.  She was born on July 25, 1920, in Bancroft, Idaho, where she attended school and graduated from North Gem High School.

She graduated from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, with an associate degree in education.

She taught school for a year and then went to Salt Lake City and worked at Remington Arms to replace the men who were drafted during World War II.

She married Edwin Carl Mikesell.

They moved to Sandpoint in November 1942 and built, owned, and operated Ed's Service Station and later Ed's Motel and Grocery.

She is survived by a son Edwin J. (Sharon) Mikesell of Spokane, Wash.; three daughters, Carlene (Donald) Wallace and Mary Charlotte Moore, both of Sandpoint, and Carol Cash (Chris) Peine of Sagle, Idaho; a sister, Laura Fisher of Spokane, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; and three stepsons, Robert, Larry, and Jan Mikesell.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Sean Patrick Moore; a stepson, Don R. Mikesell; two brothers, Eliot and Jacob (Jake) Jeppesen; and two sisters, Loretta Baugh and Mary Davis.
