| November 14, 2008 8:00 PM

SPIRIT LAKE - Mandy Martin scored 10 points and Shaina Gustafson added eight, but it wasn't enough as 1A Clark Fork dropped its nonleague season opener 50-28 Friday night on the road against 3A Timberlake.

Cassie Thompson finished with 21 points on 9 of 11 shooting to lead Timberlake.

"We had a good first quarter and just sustained it throughout," Timberlake coach Matt Miller said. "Cassie had good shot selection and her teammates got her the ball really well."

The Tigers (1-0) jumped out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter, and the Wampus Cats (0-1) would play them pretty evenly after that, outscoring the Tigers in the second and fourth quarters.
