Clark Fork defeats Mullan
MULLAN - Clark Fork guard Shaina Gustafson had a game-high 16 points as the visiting Wampus Cats defeated Mullan 53-22 in both teams North Star League opener Tuesday at the Mullan Pavilion.
The Tigers (0-3, 0-1 NSL) would cut into the 30-15 deficit, but would not get any closer in the matchup as the Wampus Cats put the game away with an 18-0 run to close out the contest.
Mullan was led by Britany Walsh with nine points and 10 rebounds, followed by Nikki Axtman with eight points and 12 rebounds.
Zara Palmer added 10 points for the Wampus Cats.
Clark Fork (1-2, 1-0) travel to the Sandpoint JV tonight.

n Sandpoint girls lose to Post Falls
POST FALLS - Trojan junior Katelyn Loper had nine points and five assists in less than a half and Jordan Schoening - who recently signed to play at Eastern Washington University - had a game-high 13 points to lead Post Falls (2-0, 2-0 IEL) past Sandpoint (0-2, 0-2) in Inland Empire League girls basketball action Tuesday night in Post Falls.
Sophomore guard Jesse Mead had four points to lead Sandpoint, which was outscored 20-2 in the first quarter as the mostly inexperienced team continues its varsity baptism under fire in the IEL.
The Sandpoint JV team is in action tonight at home against Clark Fork's varsity. Tipoff is 6 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
