SANDPOINT - Junior guard Shaina Gustafson posted game highs with 17 points and nine steals, leading the Clark Fork varsity past the Sandpoint JV team 51-38 in nonleague girls basketball action Wednesday night at Les Rogers Court.

Mandy Martin added eight points and nine rebounds for the Cats (2-2), freshman Celeste Komanec added nine points and Chelsea Macumber grabbed seven steals as the Cats finally broke open a close game by outscoring the Bulldogs 14-2 in the final quarter.

"We moved the ball a lot better tonight, with good entry passes," said Cats coach Dexter Vogel. "I'm happy with the way the rest of the team stepped up when they pressured Shaina."

Freshman Alex Bucholtz had nine points to lead Sandpoint, which hit a nice rhythm offensively in the second quarter, when they exploded for 19 points and drained a couple of three pointers. Cheyenne Tucker added seven and Jesse Mead six in the loss.
