Holly's Place perking up downtown
SANDPOINT - Bucking the recent trend of downtown business closures, Darcy Peters of The Loading Dock has expanded on her popular eatery with the introduction of Holly's Place.
Using what was once an empty storefront, Holly Torgrimson moved her established coffee stand into what Peters has dubbed The Living Room. Just a hallway away from The Loading Dock, Holly's and The Living Room were introduced to give customers a relaxing, comfortable place to drink coffee, watch football on a 73-inch television, surf the Web or read the paper, Peters said.
"The whole idea was to make this space feel comfortable like a living room," Peters said. "We want it to feel like a second home."
The collaboration between Torgrimson and Peters brings one the area's more popular baristas to one of the area's more popular eateries, and both woman are excited by the results.
"It's been a fabulous reaction so far," Peters said. "It's gotten better each day."
Both Peters and Torgrimson view the business as a collaborative effort that will benefit both women as well as their customers.
"This is the kind of thing I wish would happen more," Peters said of the collaboration. "It's one business supporting another."
In addition serving gourmet coffee, including the Italian brand Illy, Holly's offers fresh baked goods and an assortment of breakfast burritos.
Located 200 North First Ave. in front of The Loading Dock, Holly's Place is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
