Lorraine Goodman (VanSchravendyk) Haecker, 91

Lorraine Goodman (VanSchravendyk) Haecker, 91, passed away at home in Hope, Idaho, on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, as she had wished.

Memorial services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, in Clark Fork United Methodist Church. Pastor Mark Wendle will be officiating.

Lorraine was born in Dover, Idaho, on Dec. 11, 1916. She was adopted by Henry and Augusta VanSchravendyk and grew up in Hope.

Lorraine graduated from the Hope High School in 1935 and the University of Idaho in 1941.

On May 30, 1942 she married Edward T. Haecker and lived in Portland, Ore.

She worked in the underwriting department of Safeco Insurance Co until retiring in 1972. She and her husband Ed Haecker moved back to Hope in 1972 and Ed passed away that same year.

She was a member of the Hope Civic Club, the Garden Club, the Hope Memorial Center, and was a volunteer at the animal shelter for many years.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her brother Leo (Prudence) Goodman of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and her sister Alexis (Douglas) Jamieson of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

She was preceded in death by Henry and Augusta VanSchravendyk; and her sister Mary; her brother, John; her husband, Ed; and most recently by her beloved cat, Charlie.

She was from one of North Idaho's pioneer families. She was a kind and generous person who will be missed by her many friends and neighbors.
