Separate rules should not exist for right, left

I need someone in our community to explain the liberal's version of the freedom of speech to me. Several days ago I read an L.A. Times article titled "Effigy of Sarah Palin hanging by a noose creates uproar in West Hollywood."  Steve Whitmore, an L.A. County Sheriff's Department spokesman, said: "I'm not defending this; I'm not criticizing it. It doesn't rise to the level of hate crime." The mayor of West Hollywood, Jeffrey Prang, took charge of the situation and said, "I urge these residents to take down their display …" Wow, he "urged" them. What an amazing display of leadership.

A few days later, I saw an Associated Press article is titled "Obama effigy found on U. of Kentucky campus." Can you guess what was said? Gov. Steve Beshear said, "This was not political speech. It was simply hate." The university's president, Lee Todd, said that he was going to apologize to the Obama family on behalf of the school and that federal authorities had been notified. Kentucky Commission on Human Rights' executive director, John Johnson, said, "You would hope that our country has progressed further than that."

Excuse me, what in holy heck did I miss here? How is it that an effigy of Palin hanging by a noose is a "Halloween display" and an effigy of Obama hanging by a noose a hate crime? Is there a liberal out there that can explain this to me? Personally, both effigies make sick.
