SANDPOINT - Four months after opening in a temporary location, organizers for Sandpoint's Daybreak Center have found what they hope will be a permanent home for the adult day care center.

The center, which offers therapy for elderly dementia patients and respite for their caretakers, will relocate to a house at 321 South First Ave. this weekend, said organizer Esther Gilchrist.

Gilchrist said the new facility is better suited to the center's needs and will offer clients a larger, more comfortable space than the previous location.

"The space limitations (at the previous location) were, one, we couldn't expand and add more people, even if we could afford it," Gilchrist said. "And this space is better suited for activity because it's not long and narrow - it's more square."

Gilchrist said even with the larger space, the center will not immediately take on more clients and will continue its current operation schedule, without interruption. Operating Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., the center hosts up to five patients at a time.
