History makes sign more than a lapse in judgment

I agree with Bert Wallis that hanging effigies are egregious lapses in judgment and good taste. However, as far as I know, there has never been a prior instance of a jump-shooting, moose-hunting, beer-drinking former beauty queen being hanged in effigy, much less being actually hanged. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for black men in America.
