XC team says good-bye to seniors

SANDPOINT - The Sandpoint cross country team said good-bye to 12 seniors, including three of the top 10 fastest girls in team history in Megan Bartlett (No. 1), Kat Vardell (No. 7) and Vicky Vardell (No. 9), at their awards banquet recently.

While the girls team will have plenty of new faces on varsity next season, the boys return their top four state finishers, three of whom are sophomores. 52 runners came out for the cross country team this year, as head coach Matt Brass continues to build a solid program.

Bartlett and Danny Pfeifer were named Most Valuable Runners; Kevin Pfeifer, Kat Vardell, Jeremiah Prummer and Hope Woodruff were named team captains; Mason Foster and Molly Burgstahler received the Coach's Award; Kat Vardell and Kevin Pfeifer received the Scholastic Team Award; Woodruff, Prummer and Kevin Pfeifer won Most Dedicated; Bartlett and Tony Charvoz were named Most Inspirational; Woodruff and Buddy Chambers won Most Spirit; and Abbie Prummer and Cody Miller won Most Improved.
