Man charged in fatal shooting
SAGLE - A Bonner County man is being charged with first-degree murder following an altercation which left Eli Holt, 23, fatally wounded Thanksgiving night.
Bonner County Sheriff Elaine Savage said James M. Anderson, 28, is being held in the Bonner County Jail on a $500,000 bond on a first-degree murder charge.
Savage said Holt was shot during an altercation about 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the Travel America Park in Sagle. The gunshot wound was "instantly fatal," Savage said.
The sheriff declined to specify what the altercation entailed or the specifics of what led to the shooting, saying the investigation was still in initial stages.
"We're still interviewing people and going through the evidence," Savage said.
A search warrant was obtained for a vehicle brought to the shooting site and evidence found inside is being processed, Savage said.
An autopsy is being conducted by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office.
Detective Howard Burke is in charge of the ongoing investigation.
The fatal shooting is the first since Leslie Carlton Breaw, 48, disappeared in January 2007 and was later found shot to death near his Coolin home. Tyrah Brown, 25, and Keith Brown, 47, are charged in that shooting.
