Lunde leads Bulldogs in rout
SANDPOINT - Led by the stellar play of Kaiti Lunde and Abby Helander, Sandpoint throttled Moscow 25-7, 25-20 and 25-9 Thursday night in 4A North volleyball action at Les Rogers Court.
Head coach Karen Alsager said she was thrilled with the way her team played, clicking on all cylinders and serving notice that their best volleyball is still yet to come. Lunde had 12 kills and two blocks, flashing the form her coach has been waiting to see.
"She was just on fire," said Alsager of Lunde. "She had that fast arm and confidence that she showed at times last year."
Helander also garnered high praise from Alsager, who said it was the best she's seen her senior libero play. At one point she scored on nine consecutive jump serves, finishing with a team season-high eight aces on the night to go with 20 digs - remarkable numbers for just three games.
Koko James added 18 set assists and Piper Wahlin 10 kills as Sandpoint never let Moscow (4-6, 3-5 IEL) into the match.
Sandpoint now turns its attention to Coeur d'Alene, the lone team to beat Sandpoint this year, which comes to town on Tuesday in what figures to be the best match of the season to date.
