Fiinancial mess made election decision easy

| October 8, 2008 9:00 PM

If Obama and Biden had to drop out and the Democrats ran Goofy (who would have a challenge explaining who he really is) for president and Bullwinkle (if rumors he was assassinated by an Alaska hockey-mom are incorrect) for vice president, I would vote for them over the Palin/McCain ticket. Why? Because the Republican Party should be accountable for the past eight years and our current crisis.

McCain and Palin are running against the party that nominated them, trying to distance themselves from Bush/Cheney. They are trying to make us believe that recent re-labeling as "change candidates" is real.

Bush and Cheney didn't do all of the damage acting alone; rather, they had the entire Republican machine and the Republican Congress. These are the people who brought us the Iraq War, wiretapping, torture, denial of habeas corpus, politicization of the Justice Department, corporate welfare, support of the rich and so much more. And, remember Terry Schiavo.

I have always advocated voting for the candidate rather than a particular party. Not this time.  I can't afford it. I just looked at my 401(k). I won't vote against my own family's financial interests again.
