Thieves break into tattoo shop

| October 8, 2008 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT - Police are investigating a downtown burglary that left the owners of To The Point Tattoo with a smashed door and $500 in merchandise missing.

Owner Bobbi Smith arrived at her Cedar Street tattoo and clothing store Wednesday morning to find the store's glass door shattered and a number of clothing items missing.

"Somebody threw a planter through the door and grabbed a bunch of our Dickies jackets and took off," Smith said.

Smith, who is due to give birth in three weeks, immediately reported the incident to the Sandpoint Police Department police, which is now investigating.

The burglary took place sometime Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, according to Smith.

The jackets, made by the popular Dickies brand, are only available locally through To The Point. They are valued at about $500, according to Smith.

In addition to the jackets, Smith and co-owner Eric Peterson will have to purchase a new door, estimated to cost $200-$400.

Smith is hoping the thief will have a change of heart and return the jackets, and she said no questions will be asked if they are returned. She is also offering a reward to anyone who brings forward information that leads to an arrest or the return of the merchandise.

If you have information on the burglary, contact the Sandpoint Police Department at 265-1482, reference case number 08-017122, or call Smith at 290-0540.
