Cats hosts Miners in last home game of year
CLARK FORK - The Clark Fork football team will take the field with heavy hearts tonight, looking to honor former teammate Tyler Pesce, who played on the Wampus Cats football team last season. Pesce passed away on Wednesday afternoon.
Cats head coach Brian Arthun said the team is down emotionally, mourning the loss of a popular teammate who brought a lot of energy to the field last year.
"He was a big part of our team," said Arthun of Pesce. "He had an infectious personality and was a good guy to be around. We're kind of like a big family in a way, and it's like losing a son or brother."
Clark Fork (0-5) takes on Wallace, whom they lost to 52-6 in the first meeting. Arthun said he's going to open up the playbook for freshman signal caller Stillman Berkley and revert to more of last year's aerial football style.
Arthun also had high praise for the play last week of senior defensive end Cody Bowers, who tallied 3.5 sacks against Mullan and continues to improve in his first year of playing.
"He was all over the place," said Arthun. "His play has really picked up."
Kick off is at 7 p.m. in the Cats' final home game of the season.
