Candidate understands issues, film industry

| October 15, 2008 9:00 PM

I want to thank Rep. Eric Anderson for his leadership in recognizing the need to provide assistance to the film industry in Idaho. He introduced a bill, H592, which will provide a 20 percent rebate on specific Idaho expenditures if at least $200,000 is spent in Idaho and when the production hires Idaho crew members. The bill has qualifiers that keep the assistance targeted to productions that hire Idahoans and caps the program on a per production basis for films made in Idaho. In April 2008, Michigan passed similar legislation. Results: In just 19 weeks, 60 films approved and thousands of jobs created there. This is a great thing for Idaho and my hat's off to Eric for his hard work to make this happen. Without his efforts, we wouldn't have this opportunity.

I will cast my vote for Eric Anderson on Nov. 4 and I encourage you to do the same.
