Politicians ruin politics
I'd like to respond to the letters written by Bruce Johnson and Alice Samuelson in the Oct. 7 Daily Bee. Talk about diametrically opposed. Wow, what a country. These two are half a world apart.
Let me say this abou that.
I've been around for 55 years and my take is that the last thing we need in politics is politicians and I've tried to avoid re-electing anyone.
In Dwight Eisenhower's book "Danger From Within," he wrote "vote for the one you have the least but vote." Ike was never a politician until he was elected. He needed advice to even commit to a party.
The notion that Mr. Johnson wrote (my words) bright people surrounding a candidate has stood the test of time and served to humble those in power who would pray for humility.

P.S. The Ike information is from "Eisenhower The President" by Stephen Ambrose.
