Jack D. Brownell Jr., 84

Jack D. Brownell Jr., 84, passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008. Inurnment will be later in Tahoma National Cemetery.

Jack  Brownell, aka Gramp Jack, was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. He and his wife Jean Kuhn were married in 1945.

He was a decorated World War II veteran who proudly served our country on the USS Franks DD 554, remaining an active member of the ship's company association.

After the war, the couple settled down in Bellevue, Wash., and raised four children.

Jack went to work for Boeing and retired after more than 30 dedicated years.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter who took pride in everything he did. Jack's past affiliations were with the Lake City Elks, the Washing-ton Sports-men's Council, and the Boeing Amateur Radio Club.

Jack is survived by his sister, Margaret; daughter, Carol; sons, Tom and Jim; six grandchildren, Amber and Nick, TC and Alex, and Jim and Larry; and two great-grandchildren, Leo and Asa. He was predeceased by his wife Jean and his eldest son, Larry.
