Elgar will do right by community's residents

Living in a small town like Kootenai, we are kind of low on the list when it comes to the interest of politicians.

I have lived in Kootenai for 17 years, and in that time I can count on one hand how many politicians who have knocked on our door. We have owned our own home for 10 of those years and I think I have seen maybe three, which is kind of ironic as one of those candidates lives on the next block. I don't know how long she has been in office, but I have yet to see her at my door or even at the post office, which is kind of a meeting place in our small town since we are without door-to-door postal service.

But there is one candidate who has been to our home three times in the last four years — three times! And he asks and listens to what our concerns are, never making us feel like he is in a big hurry. I liked this man so well that I allowed him to put his campaign sign in our yard — a first for me.

In my 68 years, I never would allow a political signs on my property. But this man I have allowed him to put up signs twice. That man is Steve Elgar.

He seems to be a very honest man who is sincere and has the same concerns for our state as my husband and I do. So this man will get our vote. Any of you who have talked to him will know he will do a good job.

The other man who came to our door was Daryl Wheeler and he, too, will get our vote. At least these men have put an effort into meeting the people and not just phoning or mailing their sides only.
