Beautify creek instead of building bypass

I am wondering how anyone can think that the bypass will help our traffic problems?
During summer months when traffic is congested, most folks are coming to Sandpoint. I can envision the off-ramp backed up for miles, backed up on the bypass, clear back to Sagle, especially during the weekends. Let them go up Pine and turn on Fifth and head out of town. That's a no-brainer to me. Why not make plans to beautify the Sand Creek area, make it part of our city, enhance the creek with storefronts and walkways along the water? This would be much more appealing than a concrete bypass. Our community would be much better served by this.
