Frances Fredericka Good, 95, passed away in a Kootenai, Idaho, care facility on July 23, 2008

She was the daughter of Fred William Roach and Frankie Barnes Jackson. She was born in Tacoma, Wash., on Aug, 25, 1912, and married Jan. 29, 1935, to Walter H. Good.

Frances attended Lewiston State Normal School (now Lewis and Clark College) and graduated in 1932. She taught in two one-room schools on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation.

In the early years of her marriage she taught swimming and lifesaving courses in Boise.

Later she attended art workshops and American literature classes from the University of Idaho and workshops with artists Rex Brandt, George Post and Millard Sheets at Boise State University.

Over the years she had many one-person shows and exhibits and received eleven awards - for of them in photography.

Frances lived in Boise from 1935-1979, with a few months in Monticello, Ga., and Washington, D.C.

For many years she taught art lessons in Boise, both individual and classes. From 1979 on, she resided in her beloved home in Sandpoint, Idaho. Frances was fond of traveling and made five trips to Europe, and to many states, Canada and Alaska.

France was a prodigious reader, interested in many different subjects - travel, art, music, history, archaeology and geology.

Her memory was remarkable.

She was an avid bird watcher and fed many birds and ""critters" on her deck, driveway and hillside.

Frances participated in the national annual bird count.

Many acquaintances became lifelong friends with whom she kept up correspondence. She hand-painted scores of Christmas cards every season for family and friends who will save and cherish them.

For many years Frances volunteered at Bonner General Hospital gift shop. She supported many charities, especially the Panhandle Animal Shelter in Sandpoint.

Frances loved dogs and was deeply attached to the dogs lucky enough to belong to her during her life. She was also generous with support for her children and grandchildren.

Frances played piano and flute, and loved classical music. All members of her family will cherish her paintings forever. Frances loved to talk and laugh - she enjoyed people and was an enjoyable companion.

She leaves behind one son Larry (and Carolyn) Good in Boise, Idaho; and a daughter, Cathy Good (and longtime companion John Gilliland) in Descanso, Calif.; two grandchildren, Laura Good Woodall (and Kevin) and Colin Good (and Korisa); and three great-grandchildren.

One son, John, preceded her in death in March 2008.

The family is deeply grateful to Joan Timblin for her months of invaluable help and her daily cheery visits to Frances.

Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint handled the arrangements.
