SANDPOINT - A Bonner County man was ordered held Monday on $100,000 bail for allegedly inflicting life-threatening injuries on his month-old child.

Bobby Daniel Adams is charged with one count of felony injury to a child, an offense which could land him in prison for up to 10 years if he's convicted.

Adams, a 25-year-old who also uses the surname Geiger, is accused of fracturing the child's skull on Aug. 17. The infant also had a traumatic brain injury and retinal hemorrhaging, according to the criminal complaint. A detective's report further indicated the child had bruising on a knee, his chest and lower back.

Prosecutor Phil Robinson told Judge Debra Heise that long-term effects of the child's injuries remained unclear on Monday, court records show.

Heise set Adams' bail and ordered him to have no contact with the child if he secures a conditional release from the jail. Adams is obtaining private defense counsel, court documents said.

The child was flown to Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane, Wash. A doctor there determined the injuries were not accidental and might have involved a table, a detective's report said.
