LACLEDE - A 54-year-old man died Tuesday morning in an industrial accident at the Riley Creek lumber mill.

The employee's identity is not being released until authorities complete notifications to the victim's family.

Preliminary reports indicated the man suffered a crushing injury inflicted by a piece of mill equipment.

Sheriff's officials issued a press release stating deputies were summoned to the mill at about 7 a.m. The man was being worked on by emergency medical workers, but died of his injuries at the scene, the press release said.

Sheriff Elaine Savage declined on Tuesday to release any further details about accident. A mill official said the company had no comment.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety & Health Administration is investigating the accident. OSHA's area director in Boise, Jerry Hockett, said on Tuesday he was awaiting details about the accident.

"I don't really have any information on it right now, other than there was an accident with one fatality. "We're still pretty early on in the process."
