We need to support the airport

| September 13, 2008 9:00 PM

I thoroughly endorse the comments of Rich Faletto in his guest opinion of Sept 4. I, particularly, reinforce the assertion that our airport "has the potential to be the economic engine …"  It already is, but read on. Quest Aircraft, having already delivered five planes, I believe, is a $6 million and counting business with approximately 100 back orders. With 200 employees and growing, as Rich mentions, they already have a payroll approaching $10 million. My numbers are not company sourced but estimated from what I know of the local economy.

This is "potential" on top of existing performance, for sure, the kind that requires tender loving care. We, the royal we, including all of us, citizens and our elected municipal and county officials, in Sandpoint, Dover, Ponderay and Kootenai, if we care about sustaining and growing our economy with good paying jobs, must support our airport, in every way. Obviously, I do.
