City seeking nominations for 'outstanding trees'

| September 15, 2008 9:00 PM

The Sandpoint Tree Committee is working on a booklet of "Outstanding Trees in Sandpoint." The last booklet done in 1999 is all but gone, only one copy left. And, some of the trees that were in that booklet are gone, like the historic willow on the corner of Larch and Boyer and the humongous white pine that lived on  south Euclid. It was struck by lightening and the property owners were forced to remove it.

We would like to hear from the public their nominations for "outstanding trees." You decide what makes an outstanding tree. However, we need to hear pretty quickly as we only have a couple of weeks left to take good pictures.

So, please, if you have a favorite, outstanding tree you wish to nominate to be in the new booklet, call me at city hall, 255-1443, or email me your suggestions and the addresses of the trees: sdrinkard@ci.sandpoint.id.us
