Bulldogs win volleyball match

RATHDRUM — Junior Alyana Watson totaled 19 digs and three aces, and the host Hawks gave the defending 4A Region 1 champion Bulldogs a good match before bowing 26-24, 25-13, 25-22 in nonleague play.

"They played with intensity, fire and desire," said coach Claudia Ebel, who said her team cut down its hitting errors from Tuesday's loss at Moscow. "They just came out fighting."

Senior Jordan Kelsey had seven kills and three blocks for Lakeland (7-7), and senior Breezy Stecker had 13 assists.

Piper Wahlin had 10 kills, Abby Helander 14 digs for Sandpoint (4-1 IEL). Koko James had 12 assists and three aces, Linnia Hawkins had three aces, and Allison Halliday had three blocks.

Sandpoint hosts Lewiston at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
