Mead blanks Sandpoint in non-league soccer
SPOKANE - Facing Greater Spokane League girls power Mead, and missing a few starters due to injury, Sandpoint had a tough task Friday night in battling to a 1-0 loss in nonleague girls soccer action at Mead High School.
Mead's Lindsay Pangborn scored just two minutes into the game to account for the game's only goal, and Mead would go on to out-shoot Sandpoint 14-1 in the shutout.
Sandpoint (5-3-1) coach Adam Tajan had high praise for the play of Kelsey Windju in goal, who made a number of great saves to keep the Bulldogs in the game.
"We're beat up right now and we played on our heels," said Tajan, who went on to describe the goal. "It was a scrappy little goal where the ball was ping ponging around at the 18 for too long."
Sandpoint will host GSL foe Central Valley today at noon at Travers Park.
