University of Montana senior Allie Brosh has been named the Big Sky Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week the league office announced Tuesday. Brosh was recognized for her season-opening performance last Saturday at the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman, Mont.

Coming off a redshirt season in the fall of 2007, the three-time All-Big Sky performer led the Grizzlies in their first meet of the season, finishing third overall. Brosh, a Sandpoint native, covered the three-mile course in a time of 17:20, finishing just seven seconds off the lead.

The 2006 NCAA Championships qualifier led Montana to a fourth-place team finish.

Brosh has finished as the Grizzlies' top runner in the team's last 17 races when she has competed as an attached athlete.

Montana's 2008 season continues Saturday, Oct. 4, when the Grizzlies host the Montana Invitational at the UM Golf Course.
