Mary J. (Durand) Chaffins

Mary J. (Durand) Chaffins, 91  passed away in Spokane, Wash., on Sept. 18, 2008

She was born in Pocatello, Idaho, on Jan. 16, 1917.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Robert E. Chaffins, who passed away in February 2008; brothers, Harry, Charles and Robert Durand; and sisters, Ruby Rothenfluh and Helen Alspach .

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janis and Chuck Lovelady of Spokane; her son, Gary L. Chaffins of Springfield, Ore.; her sister, Catherine Penrod of Sandpoint, Idaho; grandchildren, Jason (Jet) Lovelady, Amanda  (Brett) Lovelady-English, and Adrian and Beau Chaffins; great-grandson Logan Chaffins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a member and past officer of the Liberty Lake 9 & 18 Hole Women’s Golf Club, Blythe, CA 18 Hole Women’s Golf Club, and Valley Bowl and East Bowl Bowling Leagues.

Mary loved playing golf, bowling and doing crafts.

She suffered from severe dementia the past 10 years. The family would like to thank Steve, Terry and Charlie Schlosser of Schlosser’s Adult Family Home of Spokane for the kindness and wonderful care they showed toward Mary and Bob over the last three years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1 p.m.
