It's time to close the Bank of 'America'

| September 29, 2008 9:00 PM

Some years ago our daughter married and shortly after sent me a shirt with the following message. "The Bank of Dad is closed." Parents you know what I'm talking about. Thinking about that message, it's time to close the Bank of "America."

With all the financial collapses we watched these last months there was also news, interviews and ads that expose some of the contributors to our financial problems. Any family or sound businesses would have changed their business practices in order to remain sound, solvent and stable, but not our leaders in congress, the senate or the white house.

As we watched the daily updates of financial failures we also watched in the news, The United States sent another 8 million to the Island of Haiti, The Untied States is transferring our wealth to oil producing countries, The United States loans Mexico money and then forgives the loan. The United States gives free medical care to illegal immigrants. OK, that's some of the money going out but how about the money that's not coming in such as these news items; many foreign business in the United States are not paying their taxes, or how about the ads we see nightly John Doe owed $125,000 in taxes but our experienced tax experts negotiated with IRS and he only had to pay $600.00. Let's see, we don't have a problem-sending money out we just have problems on how to get money in, other than raise the American Taxpayers contribution, again. You have to ask; who in their right mind would give money away at the same time they're borrowing large sums of money?

Now the current candidates have address the financial picture. Obama says he'll remove some of the tax cuts and raise taxes and McCain says he'll not change the tax breaks or raise taxes. Aren't we attacking this problem from the wrong end? Shouldn't we stop sending money to a country that spends the money, at least in part, on how to sneak their citizens into the United States? You and I can't afford health insurance but yet our government gives free health care to illegals. If our politicians started taking care of "the people" and stopped padding their wallets, stopped the vote gathering practices we would have a chance to take our country out of the red and put America back to work.
