Phil Heyne, 74

Phil Heyne, 74, of Libby, Mont., passed away in his home on Sept. 26, 2008.

He was born to Hugh and Mariann Heyne on Sept. 1, 1934, in St. Ignatius, Mont. He graduated from Ronan High School in 1952.

Directly after high school he went to work at the Cabinet Gorge Dam in Clarks Fork, Idaho, where he met and married Georgia Fields. They had two sons, Robert and Terry Heyne.

Phil joined the military in 1967 and served three tours in Vietnam as a Sea-Bee and was honorably discharged at Widby Island, Wash.

He then moved to Portland, Ore., and went to work for the state highway department. He moved to Libby, Mont., in 1996.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1972; a son, Robert in 1973; a brother, Don; and a sister, Vicki. He is survived by his mother; sisters Joanne (Norm) Robbins and Sandy (Pete) Nelson; a brother, Bud (Nancy) Heyne; a son, Terry (Deborah) Heyne; a granddaughter, Taylor (Dave) Heyne-Lane; a grandson, Joseph Heyne; a great-granddaughter, Aurora Lane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. MST at Milnor Lake Cemetery near Troy, Mont.
