Official Web site for stimulus program listed

| April 8, 2009 9:00 PM

A recent letter listed a Web site address that self-reports it is the site to go to for a list of projects across the country that are being funded by the federal stimulus bill.

Actually, that site is not an accurate one and I thought the Bee readers might want to know where to go on the internet to accurately follow the flow of the stimulus dollars.

The official Web site nationally is www.recovery.gov. To track where money is proposed to go in Idaho go to http://accountability.idaho.gov/ where presently one will see what the governor’s proposal to the Legislature on those stimulus dollars not already previously dedicated (like to Medicaid, or to universities) is posted.

This is also the Web site that will be updated as decisions are made and the money is committed and spent on projects.

At this point in time, stimulus money for our Medicaid program is already flowing throughout the state as are stimulus dollars to fund our K-12 public education system.  Soon, bids will be advertised for the construction of the Dover Bridge project that will be funded by stimulus dollars.

Stimulus dollars have also reached our area through other state and federal agencies like the U.S. Forest Service, the Idaho Department of Lands, and more.

Whether we agree on these stimulus dollars or not, we will be able to track them if we go to the right internet site.
