SANDPOINT — Two of the top girls doubles teams in North Idaho battled Tuesday afternoon at sunny Travers Park, with Sandpoint’s Abby Helander and Piper Wahlin taking down Clark Fork’s Chelsea Macumber and Shaina Gustafson 8-6 in a pro set.

Clark Fork and Sandpoint each juggled their lineups around and mixed and matched some players in what amounted to a scrimmage, opting to play pro sets instead of the customary two out of three set matches.

In other notable action, Sandpoint freshman Kevin Kirby scored an 8-1 win over Clark Fork’s Steffen Kirchgeorg, and Sandpoint’s Sophia Meulenberg scored a hard-fought win over Kandice Daniels in a match which featured some long rallies.

Sandpoint hosts Moscow on Thursday in a pivotal 4A North battle. Clark Fork heads to Lewiston on Saturday.
